The Issue

Carelon, the new Medicaid servicer selected by the current administration, is causing a significant negative impact on medical providers across the state. Numerous complaints reference missing claims, late payouts, and exceedingly long wait times for provider support, often exceeding two hours. This inherent malfunction is inducing undue strain on medical providers, causing ripple effects that ultimately imperil patient care quality.
While the adoption of Carelon was ostensibly intended to advance our state's healthcare administration, it has palpably fallen short of expectations and stands in alarming contrast to its predecessor, Optum. Optum was more efficient, reliable and widely preferred by providers. It is critically important that Governor Wes Moore and our state representatives take immediate action to resolve these issues. For the sake of our healthcare providers and, ultimately, the patients they serve, we call on our state leaders to directly address and rectify the problems Carelon has engendered in the Medicaid service provider community. Please lend your voice to this urgent cause and sign this petition.
