Kweisi Mfume is an American politician and public figure, currently serving as the U.S. Representative for Maryland's 7th Congressional District. He first held this seat from 1987 to 1996 and returned in 2020 following the death of Elijah Cummings. A dedicated member of the Democratic Party, Mfume also served as the President and CEO of the NAACP from 1996 to 2004. He holds a Bachelor's degree from Morgan State University and a Master's in Liberal Arts from Johns Hopkins University. Mfume has been an influential figure in various roles, including Executive Director at the National Medical Association and Chief Health Equity Officer at CTIS. He has also contributed to academia as an adjunct professor at Morgan State University.
