Urge Governor Gavin Newsom to Overturn Parole Board's Decision on Child Murderer's Release

Urge Governor Gavin Newsom to Overturn Parole Board's Decision on Child Murderer's Release
The Issue
My sister was only ten years old when she was brutally murdered for speaking out against the man who molested her. The pain of losing her has been a constant companion in our lives, and now, we face another blow - the parole board has granted release for one of her murderers. We need to act now because he could be free in as little as 150 days. We only have 120 days until Gov Newsom reviews the parole board’s decision and can choose not to stop his release.
This decision is not just a personal affront to us; it sends a dangerous message about our justice system's commitment to protecting victims and holding perpetrators accountable. In California alone, there were 1,679 murders in 2019 (source: FBI Crime Data). Each one of these represents a life cut short and families left grappling with loss. Releasing convicted murderers back into society undermines the gravity of their crimes.
We call upon Governor Gavin Newsom to intervene in this matter urgently. We believe that his intervention can overturn this decision and ensure that my sister’s murderer stays behind bars where he belongs.
Our plea is not just for my family but for all those who have lost loved ones due to violent crime. We must send a clear message that such acts will not be tolerated and will be met with appropriate punishment.
Please sign this petition urging Governor Newsom to review and overturn the parole board's decision on releasing my sister's murderer back into society.
