Urge Governor DeSantis to Remove Commissioners and Appoint Ann-Marie Evans.
The Issue
In the 2024 primary campaign season, it is alleged that two sitting St. Johns County Commissioners were part of a scheme to prepare for distribution fraudulent voter guides in St. Johns County. It is estimated that between 10,000 and 30,000 fraudulent voter guides were produced. An excerpt from the Sworn Affidavit associated with this matter includes the following, "St. Johns County Commissioner Christian Whitehurst was assisting placing labels and stamps on the envelopes containing the fraudulent voter guides. Whitehurst’s mother was also present and assisted with the fraudulent voter guide operation, as well as possibly helping to mail the envelopes. St. Johns County Commissioner Sarah Arnold was assisting with placing labels and stamps on the envelopes. Arnold also had her children present with her at the campaign headquarters while assisting the operation."
These fraudulent voter guides, that very closely resembled the official Republican Executive Committee voter guides, replaced my name and photograph as the endorsed candidate with the name and photograph of my opponent Commissioner Christian Whitehurst. These guides were designed to circumvent the will of voters; over and over we saw voters referring to these guides as they walked into the polls believing they had the list of legitimately endorsed candidates. Commissioner Whitehurst's criminal charges will play out in the courts. In the meantime, until that matter has been adjudicated, many people, including myself, are asking that Governor DeSantis remove both involved Commissioners (Christian Whitehurst and Sarah Arnold) from their positions and appoint myself, Ann-Marie Evans, in the District #1 seat.
The outcome of the 2024 primary reflected that I "lost" by only 844 votes out of 40,469 ballots cast. I wholeheartedly believe, that had the fraudulent voter guides not been in play, I would have won this election. If I was not doing well with voters and in polling, there would have been no reason to produce fraudulent voter guides.
During the course of my campaign, I exposed waste, called out corruption and questioned things that just did not make sense. I ran on a slow the growth platform and government accountability. To say some people did not want me elected would be a gross understatement; some apparently willing to go as far as criminal activity to secure a particular result. This isn't right, this isn't how elections are supposed to work. And it certainly isn't American.
Before I ask you to sign this petition, I want to make sure you know who I am and why I want to represent you. I want you to know I am not "owned" by anyone and I never will be. I want you to know I care about our citizens and I care about our county. Commissioners should be working for the people they represent and not anyone else. I am that person.
To the resume. I have worked as an attorney for about 14 years. I've been a successful business owner who was always able to balance the budget. Prior to that time, I worked as a victim advocate and paralegal in a prosecutor's office. I have always worked hard. I've served as an arbitrator and made tough, well-balanced decisions in cases. I've stood by clients as they mourned loved ones. I've fought hard for others my whole life. I am fighting for election integrity in St. Johns County. I hope you'll join the fight.
I've volunteered over the years. I've been a board member of a wildlife foundation, a former member of the William Bartram Scenic & Historic Highway, a former member of a Lions Club, assisted with election integrity efforts, etc.
Governor DeSantis has the opportunity to ensure that our next commissioner is someone who will align with our community's vision for our county. We don't need commissioners whose loyalties are not with the people they are supposed to represent. My proven track record of transparency, accountability, and ability to get things done will help secure the future of our unique and beautiful St. Johns County.
I am ready and willing to lead with integrity and purpose. Please sign this petition and let your voice be heard. Together, we can create a better future for St. Johns County and its residents.
We, the undersigned, implore Governor DeSantis to remove St. Johns County Commissioners Christian Whitehurst and Sarah Arnold from their positions. Further, we respectfully request Governor DeSantis to appoint Ann-Marie Evans to the District #1 seat.
