Google's recent changes to the Android operating system have significantly impacted the functionality of many apps. Specifically, access to sensitive data such as MAC addresses is now restricted. While these modifications aim at enhancing privacy and security on all Android devices, they affect device recognition within network tools.

We believe that user privacy and app functionality can coexist without compromising each other. While privacy and security are vital concerns, users and developers alike deserve an ecosystem that promotes innovation and functionality without sacrificing either. Therefore, we urge Google to revise its policy surrounding access to MAC addresses on the Android operating system, allowing every user to give (or not) permissions to access this kind of data – the same way Google handles location permission, for example. This way, the decision about how this data is utilized is up to each individual user.
