The Fremantle Dockers are more than a football club. They are a significant part of the Fremantle community and represent values of connection, leadership, and responsibility across Western Australia.

The Fremantle Dockers have identified key pillars that guide their organisation: health and wellbeing, education and leadership, and respect and inclusion. These values are important to many members, supporters, residents, and people connected to the Fremantle community.

The Fremantle Dockers currently hold a sponsorship partnership with Woodside, one of Australia’s largest oil and gas companies. This partnership is scheduled for review in 2027, providing an opportunity for the club and its community to consider what future partnerships best represent the values the club seeks to uphold.

As climate change continues to affect ecosystems, communities, and future generations, many people are asking whether partnerships with major fossil fuel companies align with the environmental expectations of the community the Dockers represent.

We recognise the importance of strong partnerships for professional sporting organisations. However, we believe the Fremantle Dockers have an opportunity to demonstrate leadership by considering sponsorship relationships that reflect their commitments to community, sustainability, and long-term wellbeing. Other sporting bodies have already shown that it is possible to remove sponsorships that no longer align with their values, and we believe Fremantle can lead in this regard.

We are calling on the Fremantle Dockers to:

• End the current sponsorship partnership with Woodside at the earliest practical opportunity.
• Not renew future sponsorship agreements with Woodside.
• Pursue future partnerships that align with the club’s values of health and wellbeing, education and leadership, and respect and inclusion.

This petition is not an attack on the Fremantle Dockers. It comes from a belief that the club’s influence, history, and connection to the community give it the opportunity to lead. It is a call to action for the club to make sponsorship choices that reflect its values and the future its community wants to see.

We invite Fremantle Dockers members, supporters, residents, and community members who share these concerns to stand together and call for sponsorship choices that reflect the future our community wants.
