Our community in Forsyth, Georgia is facing an unprecedented challenge. On July 20th, the city council approved a significant increase to our electric rates. This decision, compounded over the next three years, will result in a staggering 19% increase to our utility bills. This steep rise is a heavy burden on our families and individuals, stretching our budgets thin and forcing us to make difficult financial decisions.

Many of us have already felt the squeeze of rising costs in various aspects of life, with electricity being a fundamental need for every household. For those on fixed incomes, low-income families, and small business owners, this rate hike is not just a financial inconvenience—it's potentially devastating. It affects all areas of life, from the ability to keep homes warm in the winter to maintaining food safety in refrigerators and running essential home appliances.

While we understand the need for growth and infrastructure improvement in a developing city like Forsyth, we believe that the current rate hike is excessive and not in the best interest of its people. However, we feel voiceless in a decision that heavily impacts our daily lives.
