As residents of Eastdale, Oshawa, ON, Canada, we are deeply affected by the proposed boundary change for Vincent Massey Public School. Our community is being uprooted and our children are being sent to another school. This decision has been made without considering the profound impact it will have on our families and our children's education.

Vincent Massey Public School is more than just a school; it's a vital part of our community. It provides an environment where our children can learn and grow together. The proposed boundary change threatens to disrupt this nurturing environment and removes 84 students who have close ties to this community. 

Communication about this boundary change has been insufficient. Short timelines, lack of wide spread awareness and refusal to share answers to proposed questions prior to the final report and decision have left the community feeling disrespected and unheard.

The DDSB Proposal does not address the following:

• The negative impact of students mental health, physical well being and academic achievement
• The occupancy rate post proposed boundary move would still be 140%+ for VMPS
• The current traffic and safety concerns as the students being relocated to Gordon B. Attersley Public School are currently bussed
• The negative impact of these changes on property values within the surrounding community as GBAPS is double the distance from these homes

We urge the Durham District School Board to reconsider this decision and engage with us in finding a solution that respects the needs of all students within the surrounding communities.
