Urge Congress to empower the executive to support Iranian freedom

Urge Congress to empower the executive to support Iranian freedom
The Issue
For decades, my heart has ached as I watched my fellow Persian people suffer under an oppressive regime. Since 1979, when the current Islamic regime took control, Iranians both at home and in the diaspora, have faced relentless repression. This struggle is often misunderstood abroad, yet, it is not a war against a nation, but against an oppressor that has consistently harmed its own citizens.
Heartbreakingly, earlier this year, disturbing reports surfaced indicating between 3,000 and 30,000 people were killed by government forces. The regime further sought to silence these atrocities committed by the IRGC by cutting off internet access, effectively hiding the truth from the world. However, despite these heinous actions, there remains hope. The Persian community is resilient and continues to fight for their freedom.
The upcoming battle for liberation is not just for today but for the future of Iran. When the Supreme Leader was eliminated Iranians in Iran danced in the streets and celebrated the removal of the source of their oppression. Many among the Persian people are hopeful, celebrating a potential turning point towards their liberation. But there is a loud minority here in the United States that influences politicians and seeks to end a conflict that must be seen to its resolution to prevent even worse outcomes.
We must stand united in our support of the Persian people’s quest for liberty. I urge Congress not to place limitations on the executive branch’s powers. By doing so, they can continue to support effective measures in assisting the Iranian people in their quest for freedom. Let us not turn our back on them during a crucial time in their struggle. I ask you to sign this petition to show your commitment to empowering the executive to support the Iranian people in their fight for freedom.
