As a regular TikTok user, I feel the impact of the new policy that penalizes apps for selling TikTok. This narrative is certainly shared by many of us who enjoy exploring, sharing and connecting on this dynamic platform. TikTok has provided a platform for more than 80 million active monthly users in the United States to showcase their creativity and connect with the world (Source: Wallaroo Media). But the threat of fines for apps selling TikTok creates an environment of uncertainty and worry about future access to this influential platform. Fines on selling TikTok not only impact app developers, but could potentially harm the vibrant user community, which heavily includes young creative minds. This apparent punishment for facilitating our access to TikTok seems unreasonable and unfair. We therefore ask our representatives in Congress and the U.S Supreme Court to review this policy and consider how it unfairly penalizes the TikTok community, potentially limiting our opportunities for creative expression and global connection.
