Urge Coldplay to Prohibit Reselling of Tickets for January 2025 India Shows
The Issue
We're appealing to the internationally renowned band, Coldplay to take action against the rampant resell of their tickets for the upcoming January 2025 shows in India. Loyal fans are left disillusioned as an overwhelming percentage of these tickets have been snapped up by ticket resellers who are usurping their love for music and reselling these tickets at an inflated markup, sometimes up to 10 times the original price.
Bearing in mind that live music should be accessible and not an industry for opportunists, we're urging Coldplay to set preventive measures that deter ticket reselling, ensuring that real fans can share in the magic of their music. We are certain that the band shares in our sentiment – that music should be for everyone, not just those who can afford inflated prices.
Even though the tickets for Coldplay's January 2025 shows in India are already sold, implementing a ban on ticket reselling can still make a difference by:
> Returning Tickets to Fans: If Coldplay sets up a system that allows fans to return tickets they cannot use directly through official channels (such as an authorized resale platform with capped prices), tickets could be redistributed fairly to other fans. This would ensure that tickets stay in the hands of those who want to attend for the right reasons, not for profit.
> Creating a Fairer Secondary Market: Even if reselling cannot be completely banned, Coldplay could implement rules that limit how much above face value tickets can be resold for. This would reduce the outrageous markups currently being seen, making it possible for real fans to purchase tickets without paying exorbitant prices.
> Discouraging Scalpers in Future: Taking action now, even after the tickets are sold, would send a clear message to scalpers and resellers that this behavior won't be tolerated in future events. It could also encourage other artists to adopt similar policies, helping fans avoid these unfair practices for future shows.
By setting a precedent now, Coldplay can protect their fans and help ensure that their shows remain accessible to those who truly care about their music, both for this tour and in the future.
Help us make live music fairer. Sign this petition and make your voice heard.
