Subject: Petition for Implementation of Normalization Procedure in CBSE Examinations
Respected Sir/Madam,
I am writing to bring to your attention a pressing concern regarding the inconsistency in the difficulty levels of examination sets administered by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for classes 10 and 12. The variation in difficulty across different sets has led to an unfair grading system, where some students are disproportionately disadvantaged due to receiving more challenging question papers.
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has emphasized that inconsistent difficulty levels in examinations impact the reliability and fairness of academic results. This disparity not only affects students' overall performance but also has long-term consequences on their future academic and career opportunities. With CBSE being responsible for ensuring a fair and equitable examination system, it is imperative to address this issue at the earliest.
To mitigate this disparity, we urge CBSE to introduce a normalization procedure that adjusts students' scores based on the relative difficulty of their examination set. This will ensure that no student is unfairly disadvantaged and that all students are assessed on a level playing field. Many national and international examination bodies already implement such procedures to maintain fairness in assessment.
We believe that incorporating normalization will enhance the credibility of CBSE's evaluation system and uphold the principle of equal opportunity for all students. We, therefore, request your immediate attention to this matter and look forward to a positive resolution in the best interest of students across the country.
Thank you for your time and consideration. We hope that necessary steps will be taken to ensure fairness in CBSE examinations.
On behalf of concerned students and parents
