-------------------------------------
In Singapore, students and seniors enjoy special rates at food outlets, cinemas, and attractions. It's a common and appreciated practice.
But one group is consistently left out: Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). We are not asking for charity. We are asking for fairness.
Why this matters
* 👴🏻👵🏻 Seniors (~19% of the population) enjoy discounts.
* 👦🏻👧🏻 Students (~5% of the population) enjoy discounts.
* ♿ PWDs (nearly 2% of our community), including adults and youth, are often excluded.
Many PWDs live on limited incomes while facing higher daily costs. Even a simple meal or movie can become a financial strain. Worse, many who become PWDs feel demoralised and end up staying home. But with a more inclusive society, through discounts, fun events, and welcoming spaces, they will be encouraged to go out, have fun, and enjoy life with friends.
Some attractions already offer free or discounted entry for PWDs, and we already have a national PWD concession card for public transport. This proves a system is already in place. Now let’s extend it!
Now, let’s build on that progress. We call on businesses from food outlets and shops to cinemas and supermarkets, to embrace inclusion and extend the same discounts offered to students and seniors to our PWD community.
Together, we can make Singapore a place where everyone, regardless of ability, feels included, respected, and supported.
Your signature can help bring real change and show businesses that inclusion is good for everyone. Please sign and share with your friends, acquaintances, and family so more voices can be heard.
✍️ Sign the petition to urge businesses to extend discounts to PWDs. Stand for fairness. Stand for inclusion.
