The Issue

As a Melbourne local, and an uncle myself, I am deeply concerned about the safety of our community here in Brevard County. Recently, a case involving Logan Ekonomou was dropped, despite serious charges of child molestation. Given the gravity of these allegations, I believe it is imperative for the Brevard County Sheriff's Department to re-examine all the evidence before allowing such individuals to reside among us, potentially putting our children at risk. It has come to our attention that the only reason this charge of child molestation was dropped was due to the victim's mother refusing to cooperate with the state. This means the same person convicted of these heinous acts is a free man walking amongst us. This is a person who has been known to parade his weapons, including several guns on social media, despite having an active restraining order filed by his dad and step mom after he threatened their lives on more occasions than one. This is someone with countless reckless driving history, several counts of possession of drugs + intent to sell, you pair this with NUMEROUS accusations of pedophilia, child endangerment, restraining orders, & history of owning guns and I believe you can paint how the rest of the picture goes. This is a person with three children himself, two being daughters, & I strongly believe we owe it to them to take this seriously.

The dismissal of this case has not only raised alarm but also questions about the justice system's ability to protect our children. In cases of child molestation, it is crucial to leave no stone unturned. According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, over 80% of child molestation victims know their abuser, making it even more critical to thoroughly investigate acquaintances and close contacts. Logan Ekonomou needs to be re-investigated, Savannah Hatfield should also be looked into as new information and evidence could uncover the truth that the initial inquiry may have overlooked.

Several residents have come forward, providing testimonies and evidence that were not previously considered. It is our community's responsibility to ensure that these voices are heard and their contributions are given due diligence. Law enforcement agencies in Brevard County must demonstrate their commitment to justice by reopening this investigation, evaluating the new evidence, and taking necessary actions based on their findings.

We, as a community, have the right to live in a safe environment without the fear of predators among us. Our children deserve to grow up in neighborhoods where they can play freely and securely. By urging the Brevard County Sheriff's Department & the Florida Department of Children & Families to revisit this case, we not only seek justice but also a future where community safety is prioritized.

If you've made it this far, I strongly urge you to do what's right & join me in demanding a thorough investigation into Logan Ekonomou and Savannah Hatfield's case by signing this petition. I have faith that we are stronger in numbers and let it be known we WILL BE HEARD. We will be the voice our children deserve. Your signature can make a powerful statement to our local authorities that the well-being of our community and children is non-negotiable. Together, let's ensure that justice is pursued and our neighborhood remains a safe haven for all families.
