Urge Booking.com to improve customer support for complaints
Urge Booking.com to improve customer support for complaints
The issue
When I booked and paid for four nights through Booking.com, I expected a seamless experience. After a long & really tricky journey, I physically attended the property within the stated check-in period, armed with my luggage and ready to settle in. Instead, I was met with a bizarre situation. The host, rather than assisting me, joked at my expense, and when I didn’t engage & asked to check into my room, the owners became offended at my not being in a good mood & closed the door on me. Standing at the threshold, I realised I would not be admitted. To my dismay, I received none of the four nights of accommodation I had purchased.
Booking.com has been completely useless, 16 to 18 phone calls have disconnected, they refused to escalate, they stay on line to argue & argue & argue over the tiny points “I need your booking number now but I can proceed without it but I was still correct in saying I need it” (and that goes on for hours), gaslight you, refuse to empathise, act faux offended and hang up if you give them any feedback, lie that you didn’t check in at all, lie that you checked in late, leave you on hold for three hours, refuse to reply to emails, lie in their emails etc. etc. etc. They are completely not fit for purpose and have turned into a scam company
This disheartening experience, unfortunately, mirrors countless other consumer reports. Across platforms like Trustpilot, ProductReview.com.au, and Reddit, numerous travelers recount similar ordeals with Booking.com. Many detail the struggle of obtaining adequate assistance when accommodation or refunds go awry, citing an apparent lack of support for genuine grievances.
Booking.com is a leading online travel agency with a reputation to uphold. However, a significant number of their users feel let down by their customer service, which seems ill-equipped to address and resolve issues at the critical moment. Omissions in response mechanisms not only compromise customer satisfaction but also erode trust in the platform itself.
To the senior management of Booking.com, we urge you to heed these complaints and take immediate action. We implore you to implement a robust and empathetic approach to managing customer issues. Consider establishing a clearly defined protocol for resolving disputes that includes:
1. A dedicated helpline with trained personnel who can address urgent accommodation issues promptly. Actual phone lines that function instead of constantly disconnect, immediate escalation to seniors and real time support
2. A transparent process for filing and resolving complaints, aiming for resolutions within a short time frame.
3. Regular audits of partner properties to ensure compliance with your stated standards and guidelines.
These steps will not only enhance customer experience but also reinforce Booking.com's commitment to delivering on its promise of facilitating seamless travel experiences. It is time for Booking.com to listen to its customer community, acknowledging their voices and acting to ensure every traveler feels heard and supported.
We believe in the potential for positive change. Join us in calling on Booking.com to take responsibility and enhance their customer service operations. By signing this petition, you contribute to a movement advocating for improved consumer rights and accountability in online travel services.
