As residents of Bluewater Municipality in Ontario, we've been blindsided by the recent news of a proposal that would forever change our community. The town council and municipality have been secretly discussing a deal with Bedrock and Capstone to construct the largest compressed air facility in the WORLD right here on our doorstep. Up until three days ago, 95% of us within Bluewater were unaware of this project, although plans have been in the making since 2023. This lack of transparency has left us feeling stripped of our voice and powerless in decisions that affect our lives deeply.

The proposed facility threatens some of the best farmland in Ontario, land that has sustained families and supported our local economy for generations. This is not just a piece of land; it is the heart of our community, and using it for a project of this magnitude would irreversibly damage our environment and way of life.

Compressed air facilities of this nature on gas caverns are unprecedented, with no successful pilot projects to draw from. The potential risks are alarming, and the long-term effects on our environment remain uncertain. It's frightening to think that we might live with major construction impacts and environmental vulnerabilities without having any say in the matter.

We must urge our town council and municipality to reconsider this deal with Bedrock and Capstone. We deserve the right to decide what happens in our community and to protect our land for future generations. We all have a voice.
