The photograph for this update shows the approach to the entrance of Victoria Pleasure Grounds. This is where the two councils and the Town Deal Board want thousands of people to come, some of them in coaches, some of then by car, to football matches and the “Hospitality Venue”.
With the new homes being built on the left, there is now a blind corner hiding a road junction with the VPG entrance flowing straight into that potentially very dangerous zone.
To date, there has been no direct consultation with any residents of surrounding streets about the impact the plans will have on their lives. All protests about the plans for VPG have been ignored, and anyone who doesn’t agree is simply frozen out.
Goole Town Council has a Victoria Pleasure Grounds working party, the members are:
Cllr. K Bottomley;
Cllr. J Cooper;
Cllr. A Handley;
Cllr. D Jeffreys;
Cllr. A Raspin.
It’s not unreasonable to assume those councillors must have played a strong role in drawing up the plans, unless we are told otherwise. It’s hard for local residents to understand how they could have approved of a scheme in a residential area so unsuited to what is planned.
Thank you to everyone who has signed so far. We don’t have enough signatories nto take it to the Secretary of State, but there is a lot of unhappiness about the Town Deal plans so we will carry on. Keep talking, keep sharing, keep signing!
Best wishes,
Richard
