The issue

My brother-in-law and his wife have endured a decade of uncertainty and difficulty with retaining work as refugees in Turkey. For ten long years, they have lived with the constant threat of being returned to Iran, a place of grave danger for them because of their persecution. In Turkey, they face discrimination simply for being Persian and for rejecting the political views of the Turkish government. This is not just their story; it's the reality for thousands of refugees who sought solace in Turkey but still find themselves without lasting safety or freedom.

Refugees have difficulties moving countries  as the UN restricts them to choosing one country only to be resettled in.

The Australian government has a proud history of offering sanctuary to those in need, and now, more than ever, it's time to extend that commitment to families like mine trapped in Turkey. Accepting refugees from Turkey not only aligns with Australia's humanitarian values but also demonstrates leadership in a world where too many countries are turning away from their responsibilities to refugees.

Approximately 3.7 million refugees currently reside in Turkey according to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Many of them are at risk of deportation back to countries where they face persecution, imprisonment, or worse. Iran is not a safe place to return at the moment for most Iranians.

Providing refuge to these families would not only give them a chance to live without fear but also enrich Australia's multicultural tapestry.

Please join me in this crucial effort to provide a safe home for families in desperate need of one. Sign this petition to stand with refugees and advocate for their right to live in peace and security.

Thankyou
