Uphold the Integrity of Our Constitution

The Issue

My father was one of the brave souls who risked his life in World War II and the Korean Conflict to defend the very principles that our nation stands for—liberty, justice, and democracy for all. His sacrifices, along with those of countless other heroes, weren't made for us to erode the foundational values that our country was built upon. Yet today, these very values are under threat as the current administration exercises overreach by deploying military forces on American soil, contravening the Posse Comitatus Act (18 U.S.C. § 1385).

This Act was established to limit the powers of the federal government in using federal military personnel to enforce domestic policies within the United States. It embodies the essence of civilian control over the military, ensuring that our armed forces are not used as a tool for political gain or to intimidate citizens. The deployment of military forces for law enforcement within our country undermines this critical law, potentially setting a dangerous precedent for future governance and violating the checks and balances that safeguard our democracy.

The Posse Comitatus Act has served as a pillar of constitutional integrity, maintaining a clear line between domestic law enforcement and military deployment. Unless explicitly authorized by Congress, the use of military personnel in domestic roles not only disrespects this boundary but also the sacrifices of those like my father, who fought for these principles. This is a call to action for all citizens and lawmakers to ensure that our Constitution remains intact and revered.

We must hold those in power accountable to uphold the laws and principles that define our nation. By supporting this petition, you will join a chorus of voices committed to protecting the sanctity of our Constitution. Let's ensure that the sacrifices made by our forebears continue to be honored. Sign this petition to uphold the integrity of our Constitution and demand adherence to laws that protect our democracy.
