Uphold the Camping Ban in Fremont, California

Uphold the Camping Ban in Fremont, California
The Issue
As a concerned citizen and business owner in Fremont, California, I've experienced firsthand the health, safety, and fire risks associated with homeless encampments. A camping ban offers a solution to the issues we face but it requires continued support to ensure its effective implementation and enforcement.
In recent years, the homelessness crisis in our area has escalated, resulting in the sprawl of homeless encampments including in high-risk areas, such as my business, neighborhood, schools and libraries. Many members of our community share a similar story, increasingly fearing for the health and safety of their families, customers, and neighbors.
It is important to mention, this is not about penalizing our homeless population. In fact, Alameda County has a number of services available for the homeless, from food programs to temporary shelter schemes. However, allowing camping in public areas undermines these vital services, perpetuates safety and fire hazards, and is detrimental to business survival and the community's wellbeing.
The camping ban in Fremont, if enforced effectively, will mean safer streets and safer neighborhoods while still treating all residents, housed or not, with the dignity and respect they deserve.
Please lend your voice to this issue. Your support can help preserve the camping ban and subsequently, the safety and well-being of our community. Sign the petition today.
