As a local resident and parent in Prebbleton, I'm really worried about the safety of our crossing. It’s a spot where loads of kids and families cross every day, and it’s just not safe enough. Drivers often ignore pedestrians waiting to cross, and there have been too many close calls.

Upgrading the Prebbleton Pedestrian Crossing to a light-controlled system on Springs road isn't just a nice-to-have—it's a must to keep our community safe. A pedestrian-controlled light crossing will create the least traffic disruption, as it’ll stay green whenever there are no pedestrians.

Many of us have previously contacted the Selwyn District Council directly and via the Snap, Solve, Send app. The council's response has always been that they're aware of the issue but there is no funding. We don't believe this is good enough. Prebbleton is the main thoroughfare for the residents of Lincoln working or visiting the city, meaning the road is always busy. We need to push for the Selwyn District Council to reallocate funding from the long term plan and make this upgrade a priority.
