Upgrade Our Local Small Dog Park in Baldivis, WA for a Better Community Experience
The issue
Re: Proposed upgrade to Barri Barri Small Dog Park - 38-40 White Hart Lane, Baldivis WA
I, along with many other community members, are regular users of the local small dog park in Baldivis, WA. However, our beloved park could do with more regular maintenance and some upgrades. Currently there isn't enough seating to accommodate the number of people and dogs who frequent the park which at times are up to 25-30 dogs and their owners.
Additionally, the park has several large ‘sand pits’ that were created when some of the grass died and the council filled them up with sand. And despite several emails, and phone calls from members of the community, there are gaps under the fences and gates where small dogs are able to climb under and escape the park.`
Good public spaces like upgraded dog parks benefit us all and we have noted that some people come from as far as Halls Head and Mandurah. The small dog park is currently used for get-togethers such as; Chihuahua/Dachshund Facebook Groups, dog birthdays, and dog walkers to bring their clients for some much needed off-leash time and socialisation.
We believe an upgrade is overdue. We have a vision of a park that not only accommodates our growing number of users but also is a safe, clean, and enriched haven for our four-legged friends. We look up to Seahaven Dog Park in Waikiki, WA, which we think would serve as a great model for what our park could become.
Please sign this petition to communicate to the council that the maintenance and upgrade of our dog park are important to us and should be prioritized.
Many thanks.
