The Issue

Right now, OMGS (Oquirrh Mountain Girls Softball) has to turn away hundreds of girls every year simply because there isn’t enough space to play. It's heartbreaking to see young talents discouraged due to inadequate facilities. Centennial Park, once a bustling hub for community sports, is in dire need of upgrades to cater to the increasing interest in girls' fastpitch softball.

Our community is growing, and so is the enthusiasm for girls' softball. However, Centennial Park's current infrastructure falls short of meeting these demands. The fields are worn out, lacking essential amenities such as proper lighting, adequate seating, and safe, well-maintained playing surfaces. We have a responsibility to provide our young female athletes with the resources they need to practice, compete, and excel in their sport.

Investing in Centennial Park is not just about sports; it's about fostering a community spirit, encouraging young girls to pursue their passions, and promoting a healthy, active lifestyle. According to the Women's Sports Foundation, girls who participate in sports are more likely to do well in school and have higher self-esteem. By improving Centennial Park, we can ensure more girls have the opportunity to benefit from these positive outcomes.

We urge the city leaders to allocate necessary funds towards renovating and upgrading the park's facilities. This includes resurfacing the fields, installing proper lighting, adding more seating areas, and ensuring the park meets safety standards. With these changes, Centennial Park can become a shining example of community support and pride.

Let's come together to make this vision a reality for our daughters and the generations to come. Sign this petition to show your support for upgrading Centennial Park and providing our girls with the fields they deserve.
