Hi Christina,
While I understand this location is important to you, please note we complete intersection assessments across the City in accordance with industry best practices that include a combination of BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure and Transportation Association of Canada Documents. These assessments are often completed by external consultants (subject matter experts) specialized in these areas to ensure all factors are consistently taken into consideration. These assessments include accident data. This was the case for the assessment of 240 Street and Hill Avenue. It will likely take a few months before we receive the final report for this location.
In your previous email you reference a 2018 booklet. Please note, we utilize multiple booklets to assess road safety. Most of these booklets (published by the Transportation of Canada or, the BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure) are in paper-copy for use of Engineering staff. There are PDF versions of some of these booklets however, we do not have the ability to share them due to conditions of the licence agreements that we agree to access these digital documents. The booklets alone do not complete the assessment as field data is required as inputs for processing to determine the corresponding outcome of these assessment warrants. The data collection that you noticed a few weeks ago will form a portion of the inputs for the traffic signal warrant review for this location.
While I understand you identified 9 potential solutions for consideration, we plan to take the recommendation of the consultant completing this assessment to ensure we are consistent with other locations of review across the City.
Thank you,
Mark Halpin BA, PMP
