The Issue
FEB 15, 2025. UPDATE ON THIS IMPORTANT ISSUE:
PER PLANNING AND ZOING DIRECTOR, THERSA, HANCOCK COUNTY HAS NO, ZERO, CODE ORDINANCE REQUIREMENTS.
I sd really, that is not what we went through when we purchased our home. We were threatened by the former P & Z Director. We built our deck on our outbuilding to close to the lake , we had to move it. Also. threatened us that we should have to move our outbuilding on the street side because we did not get approval to put it there.
PLEASE HELP WITH THIS URGENT MATTER. WE ARE GOING TO A MEETING SOON TO DISCUSS THIS ISSUE. WE NEED ALL OF THE SUPPORT WE CAN GET!
I am a resident of the East Lake Sinclair Community in Sparta, GA. Recently, a neighbor moved an illegal mobile home onto their lake lot. This action has not only disrupted the harmony of our community but also negatively impacted the property values of all homes in our area.
Hancock County has clear zoning laws that prohibit such actions. However, these laws are being overlooked and not enforced by our local planning and zoning authority. This lack of enforcement is causing undue stress and financial loss to many homeowners like myself who have invested heavily in their properties.
According to a study by the Appraisal Institute (2018), properties located near mobile homes can experience a decrease in value by as much as 14%. This statistic is alarming for us homeowners who take pride in maintaining our properties' value.
We urge the Hancock County Planning and Zoning Authority to enforce existing laws against placing illegal mobile homes on residential land. By doing so, they will protect homeowners' investments and preserve the aesthetic appeal of our beloved community.
