Talks between UP Chief Minister and Magsaysay Awardee Dr Sandeep Pandey and delegation regarding implementation of UP High Court order (dated 18th August 2015) that children of those drawing salaries from government, those enjoying other benefits from government, and elected representatives must study in government schools, failed. Dr Sandeep Pandey who is on an indefinite fast since Monday ,6th June 2016, will continue his fast owing to apathy and inaction of the government. Advocate Mohd Shoaib, national Vice President of Socialist Party (India); Sharad Patel, President Acharya Narendra Dev Chhatra Sabha, and Munna Lal, President of Yusuf Meher Ali Mazdoor Sabha were part of Dr Pandey's delegation that met the UP Chief Minister today on 8th June 2016. Dr Sandeep Pandey handed almost 800 signatures from the public to UP CM in support of the demand. It is shameful that an order which was supposed to be implemented within six months from date of High Court order (18th August 2015), UP CM is now issuing an order to Basic Shiksha Department to study the order. Socialist Party (India) is now planning to move the court against the government and hold them in contempt of HC order. Although UP CM declined to implement the common school system he offered to implement common curriculum system, ensure better nutrition is provided to children and improve quality of teaching in government schools by sharing high quality teaching videos for teachers. Dr Pandey's fast has entered its third day today and will continue. Signature petition in different parts of Lucknow as well as online both will continue.
