Thank you for the overwhelming support. I feel this is the collective fight of lakhs of outstation students studying at DU.
And I think DU’s administration also understands these concerns. DU’s Proctor aired our concerns while talking to the protesting students at the campus. I am also reaching out to the Dean of Students’ Welfare at DU to explain our concerns with the resumption of offline classes.
I am in no way suggesting that colleges should remain closed. I understand that many students don’t have access to proper internet and smartphones. So even online learning isn’t a foolproof solution. But the university administration should also understand that not every outstation student can bear expenses like flight/train tickets, rent, food and other living expenses, for just two months of offline classes. Colleges should now adopt a hybrid learning mode, and outstation students should have the option of continuing their studies virtually.
The last couple of years have been extremely challenging for the entire student body in India. The last thing we need is our university administration putting our health and mental well-being in jeopardy with their knee-jerk decisions.
