The $110 mandatory GRT Upass is a great OPTION for students who wish to utilize the GRT bus transportations within the region, BUT are a burden on students who are not able to opt-out and do NOT need the pass. The "Upass Refund Request" form supports some accommodations to be relieved of the mandatory cost but does NOT include students who reside in the Waterloo region - more specifically, students who drive to campus. Students who pay the $169.50 termly parking pass have the burden of the $110 GRT Upass as well, which is a large sum of money for students who will not need the GRT services. 

Signing this petition could be used to advocate an option for students who live in the Waterloo region to not have a mandatory GRT Upass for the Fall 2021 term - and hopefully in the coming terms. If this GRT U-pass becomes termly (which is unknown at this moment) it would be an additional $330 a year for students (assuming 3 terms a year), and with the parking pass, a whopping total of $838.50 a year for both a parking pass and GRT-Upass.
