On October 2nd, 2016 students at the University of Texas at Austin received an email announcing the increase in price from $10 to $20 for an official transcript request. According to the email sent by Shelby Stanfield (Vice Provost and Registrar) the price increase is in order to "continue providing the high quality service that our students need and expect, the fee to request an official university transcript is now $20". As a UT Student, we are burdened by the costs of a large university on a daily basis. We are consistently given additional fees and price increases, but we are not told why such a change is necessary. Last year students successfully rallied together to fight the price increase put on data usage on campus! Together we can rally against another unjust fee increase. ALL students require official transcripts throughout their college career. Transcript requests are needed even more frequently for students applying for post-grad programs and those who take classes at community college to save time & money!  

Additionally, we have found that several colleges and universities do not charge for an official transcript request or have much lower fees. Austin Community College currently does not charge for official transcript requests. A&M University recently increased their transcript request fee to $10.00 (if aggies only pay $10, why should we pay $20??). OU Students currently have no charge for official transcript requests (...OU STILL SUCKS).

Please sign and share the petition if you too are upset about the increase on transcript requests! Voice your concern and we can change/reduce the additional $10 charge for Official Transcript Requests.
