Have UT Austin lower Fall 2020 Semester Tuition

Have UT Austin lower Fall 2020 Semester Tuition
The Issue
The Covid-19 pandemic is infecting many people in the state of Texas due to Governor Abbot’s rushed reopening of the state. As a result, UT Austin has decided to move many in-person classes to online classes. The University has not told the student body how this decision would affect their expenses. Many students feel that tuition for the Fall 2020 semester should be reduced. Some students may feel disadvantaged due to the move to web-based classes. Some students may not have satisfactory access to internet. Some students may feel more comfortable attending classes in person. Students may not have access to the resources provided by the University, which the tuition should pay for. Some students may feel that the online classes are not necessarily what they are paying for. Furthermore, the CoronaVirus pandemic has drastically affected the student body’s finances. Therefore, UT Austin should consider reducing tuition this semester to better accommodate to OUR economic circumstances.
