On the 23rd March 2020 Stirling University announced that graduations which were scheduled for June 2020 are to be held in absentia. Completely crushing the dreams of all students who were set to graduate this year. As graduation, in most cases, is a once in a life time ceremony, a day of excitement and joy which has made all the studying, hard work and effort worth it, a graduation ceremony is a big important day! However, that special day has been ripped right from our grasp. Summer graduates of 2020 were never given the choice to attend that special day which marked the end of their hard working, 4 year journey. No ceremony, no special academic day to remember. A day which you should be able to remember and talk about for the rest of your life, as one of the best days to the end of your academic journey at the University of Stirling.

So, this petition is created in order to try and change the university’s mind and instead request a postponed graduation ceremony. To either be held later on in summer, at the start of next year’s academic year or to be held at the end of the autumn academic semester to come. 

Please can we all sign this together, in hope that graduates of 2020 shall not have to imagine what that special day would have been like and that they instead shall have a graduation ceremony to attend and remember!
