Save the UMD Land Lab/SAP Farm

Save the UMD Land Lab/SAP Farm
The Issue
With the forthcoming departure of our founder Randy Hanson, the UMD Land Lab/SAP Farm is once again under threat of being cut. We are looking to work with UMD Administration to find a permanent solution to fund the Land Lab so that it is able to retain its position in our university and community as an incubator for local food systems, a hands on sustainability education experience for students, a community learning tool, and a functioning farm providing local, sustainably grown produce to UMD for years to come.
Each year, the Land Lab engages 1,300+ UMD students and community members in education around sustainable agriculture and local food. We host field trips for all Duluth area 7th graders to learn about farming, sustainable agriculture, pollinators, and composting, grow over 40,000 lbs of local, sustainably grown produce (2017), and have a seat at the table in conversations about how we can feed our region sustainably.
Help us show UMD administration the overwhelming student, community, and faculty support the Land Lab has and demand that we find a solution to permanently secure funding for this incredibly unique feature of our institution.
