Give 1st and 2nd Year University of Lincoln students a Pass grade

The Issue

The global pandemic has affected the University of Lincoln students in many different ways, for some it may mean the transition from on campus learning to online learning, but for others, it has created a world of issues.

For example,

There are many international students that have returned to their home countries and are therefore at a disadvantage in terms of facilities

There are students that may have families affected by the virus - parents who cannot work and therefore cannot financially support them.

Students that don’t have access to a computer or laptop, maybe little access to internet.

Students that suffer from mental health issues who are struggling massively under the weight of this terrifying pandemic.

To grade these student’s assessments under the pressures that this virus is causing is simply unfair. If a pass mark ensures us a place at university for the upcoming academic year, it may be the key to alleviating the panic and worry surrounding our futures.
