Save One World Nursery
The Issue
SAVE ONE WORLD NURSERY
We are shocked and saddened at the sudden decision of the University of Brighton to close One World Nursery which has been providing a unique and invaluable service to children of staff, students and the local community, and their families, for over 40 years. Our innovative anti-bias practice is recognised, respected and cherished by families and the Early Years sector throughout the city and beyond, and is irreplaceable.
This was a financial decision made by the University Executive Board without any consultation with the 11 dedicated staff team members.
In July 2020 the University carried out its decision to permanently close its Phoenix nursery, with a commitment to providing a single provision at the One World site, offering full backup and support of University departments and marketing. This support never happened.
This short-sighted decision would leave The University of Brighton with no Early Years provision for students, staff, or local community and leave the Early Years sector without a valued, informal teaching and learning resource at the cutting edge of best practice. Please help us overturn this decision.
