It is 2021 and you need to stop calling humans illegal aliens! This is dehumanizing!

As a non-US citizen, I have to fill-out forms whenever I provide services in higher learning settings. These forms, used by Departments of Human Resources, used across universities and colleges in the United States, contain the words "Illegal Alien" to denote a person that is not a U.S. citizen. 

The U.S. administration has the duty to make sure their branches of power authorize and change the terminology in their vision to integrate communities instead of perpetuating the ongoing culture of violence.

This linguistic change is overdue and we demand dignity for all, especially from the Citizenship and Immigration Services, the agency that handles immigration processes. The acting Director Tracy Renaud signed a memorandum dated February 12th, 2021 to adopt language changes. 

We urge all universities and colleges to update their forms and challenge these violent linguistic practices. 

We say enough to micro and macro aggressions when we fill out forms asking us to check a box that identifies us as "alliens" or "illegal" or both.
