Abolish ICE- Stop the sterilization of immigrant women

The Issue

It has come to light that numerous women being held in detention ICE camps are having partial or full hysterectomies- which is the removal of the uterus- without their full consent. Nurse Dawn Wooten has filed a complaint along with Project South, the Georgia Detention Watch, the Georgia Latino Alliance for Human Rights and South Georgia Immigrant Support Network, but this is not enough. Immigrant women are being mislead by doctors and nurses, who cannot effectively communicate medical procedures to these women because they don't speak Spanish or the native language of these immigrants, therefore there is no consent to have these procedures done. This is illegal.

Imagine you went into a hospital to see a doctor for an ear ache and that doctor didn't speak your language. The doctor and nurses don't know how to communicate with you so they try using Google translate to gain your consent (yes, this really happened according to Ms.Wooten), but you trust them because they are supposed to be professionals and hold your health as top priority. You end up having a procedure done in which both your ears are removed and now you are confused, angry, and have had your body mutilated without knowing why or having the power to change your circumstance. That's what these immigrant women are facing, except it's not their ears being removed, it's their reproductive organs, a far more invasive procedure.

There have been plenty of articles sharing Ms. Wooten's claims against malpractice in ICE camps but nothing has seemed to gain traction. In fact she was demoted and reprimanded for speaking out against the mistreatment of detainees. I plead with you, please don't let this slip under the radar. We cannot let another tax dollar go to the agencies that promote and uphold racism, white supremacy, sterilization and genocide. It's time to end ICE.

This is an act of terror, a grotesque display of eugenics against women of color that are being held captive. This is a crime against humanity. Whether or not these detainees are here "illegally" is so far from what really matters, they do not deserve to be treated like lab rats nor treated like sub human. These are HUMAN BEINGS. Please take action for your fellow human's well being, take action for what is right, take action so that we do not fall down the slippery slope of complacency. The consequence of complacency is a tyrannical government slowly taking away your freedoms until you have no voice, or rights to fight against it. If we don't take action then we are allowing our country to do the very thing that we fought against in WWII.  Exercise your rights and take accountability for your country.

By signing this petition you are calling for abolishing ICE, the firing and revoking the license of the doctor that performed these hysterectomies,if the claims are found true and to end these crimes against humanity.
