Change the Criteria for inclusion on National Security Council Principal's Committee
The Issue
It is unconscionable that membership in the National Security Council's Principal's Committee is available to appointees who are both non-elected and also non-confirmed by the Senate. This incredibly influential and important committee, which by it's very nature sits at the center of the most important decisions of our government should only be made up of elected officials (i.e, the President and Vice President), appointed (and confirmed by the Senate) cabinet members and active duty military (such as members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff). Any other appointees (such as the Director of the National Security Council or other staff, including the White House chief of staff or other proxies), must be vetted, under oath, on-the-record, by the Senate Intelligence and/or Foreign Relations committee, and then confirmed by the entire Senate.
