Allow Emotional Support Animals on Planes as ESAs - Not Pets

The Issue

Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) are prescribed by mental health professionals under the law. This mental health professional determines that the presence of the animal is needed for the mental health of the patient.

For example, owning an ESA might ease a person’s anxiety. Specifically, if an individual with an anxiety disorder and/or a fear of flying has been prescribed an ESA for this very reason, the individual should be able to utilize their ESA for its’ prescribed purpose.

If the ESA is safe, obedient, healthy, and authorization of the legitimate prescription is provided to the airline(s), ESAs should be able to fly as such, accompanying its’ owner, NOT as a pet. Merely physical contact with an ESA can greatly help individuals ease their anxiety, in particular, as opposed to this animal being contained in a carrier under the seat (IF it fits) for the duration of the flight - which can be extremely detrimental to one’s emotional state/anxiety.

PLEASE allow those with legitimately prescribed ESAs to fly as ESAs again, and NOT pets. I am in no way discounting service animals, but this is discrimination against those with mental health/emotional issues.
Please acknowledge mental health is also very real and serious
