EU announces possible measures against Burundian government for Human Rights Abuses

Dear friends,
Today, Monday, February 15, the European Union warned Burundian Government officials that appropriate measures would be taken against them due to human rights abuses in the country. Although a step in the right direction, "possible" actions are not sufficient when people are dying Severe sanctions should be applied instead.
Each day that passes, as world leaders debate what, if, any, role they will play, one wonders if decisions will come too late. Are they going to remain bystanders to history? If so, can we say that we have learned from past atrocities, such as the Holocaust and the Genocide in Rwanda, among others?
We must make this imperative request: the situation in Burundi is worsening every single day and we cannot continue to drag our feet. Being a survivor of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, has taught me that neutrality only helps the oppressors, not the victims. We must thus, take courage to continue to call lawmakers to action. Let us remind them of how grenades are taking innocent lives in Burundi including children.
Friends, you have shown that you care, for that I am extremely grateful. Your words speak volumes of your wish for these innocent lives. We need to increase the number of supporters so that collectively we continue to drown out the silence of those who stand idly by. Once again, let us stand together and CALL the United Nations and the world to intervene quickly and prevent a genocide in Burundi.
Please forward this petition to as many as you can and help multiply our call for the people of Burundi.
My heart is moved to tears every time I read your posts. Your reward is being written above!! I am very grateful. Thank you... thank you.
