Dear friends,
Congratulation for the great job you are doing! Our petition has now 750 supporters.
Since April of last year, there are already more than 200,000 Burundian refugees in neighboring countries among of whom 56% is under the age of 17. You may be aware that during this period of political unrest where governments empower armed militias groups to control cities; children and women are the most vulnerable as they are left on fertile grounds for human trafficking in case they are not killed. Children in despair are victims of slavery and young women are gang raped. It is unthinkable what these people experience. Let’s us commit again to this petition by forwarding it to our friends and acquaintances to request their support. When people are hiding in bushes or running under fear, they are voiceless and need wonderful people like you to speak for them. Friends, you are instruments of peace and I thank you for that. Let’s not allow silence on this issue; please do not let your friends watch quietly when women are being brutally raped, when children are dying on the run or in crowded camps with all kind of diseases.
It is critical that United Nations act quickly to end violence in Burundi and help people return safely to their homes. I am so grateful for your dedicated efforts to this cause.
