Save a Nigerian Child Sentenced to 10 Years Imprisonment for Blasphemy
The issue
Atheist Alliance International is calling on everyone around the world to sign this important petition to save 13-year-old Umar Farouk from a 10-year prison sentence for blasphemy.
Umar has been sentenced in Kano, Northern Nigeria, after he allegedly "insulted Allah" in a heated argument with a friend. Umar was just 12 years old when he allegedly made the remark, but the judicial official of Kano’s Islamic Shariah Court, Ibrahim, sentenced the young boy in early August this year.
