Pristine habitat like rain forest, tundra, wetlands, mangroves, deciduous woodland and many more are essential for life. These ecosystems together provide clean air, absorb carbon, protect soils and provide resources for human and animal life. It is now certain that many human activities have devastating ecological ramifications and threaten all life on earth. Natural ecosystems have been disrupted to appease the perceived needs of the capitalist economies and a growing human population that has lost touch with how to nurture the soil that feeds them. Extinction is happening everywhere yet building on pristine or ancient forest habitat continues. To protect the future of the planet we aim globally to pass a law that bans any development on pristine habitat. There is more than enough cleared land yet still, day after day, more projects are given the go ahead to destroy habitat that forms a crucial protection for all life on earth. Why the pristine habitat that remains is not protected is madness. The loss of these forests, wetlands or islands will impact every individual on earth as we are already witnessing.
