The Issue

In light of the recent slaughter of beloved Cecil the lion, the hunting of endangered species has had the spotlight shown upon it. The killing of endangered species is illegal in most countries, however some disturbingly use the practice as a source of revenue. Once gone, these animals are gone forever, and they are vital pieces of our ecosystem. We must protect these rare and beautiful animals before it is too late. I'm asking for the UN to put a global ban on the hunting of any animal on the endangered species list. I'm also askingthe UN to put in place severe sanctions against any cocountry that violates this through the sale of permits to hunt them, the allowance of unpermitted hunting within their borders, and the failure to actively pursue avenues to stop poaching within their borders. I also ask for a global ban on the transportation of any animal parts including but not limited to heads, hides, and paws/feet for any use other than museum, zoo, or educational purposes. Any approved use should require preapproval and proper paperwork from an authority to be determined by the UN. No species should become extinct at the hands of man, and certainly not to be a trophy on someone's wall.
