Because tuberculosis (TB) remains the world’s leading infectious disease cause of death and greatest crises of our time, we must all remain at the forefront of the advancement, promotion and protection of the rights of people living with or affected by TB. Human rights must be our true north if we are to end TB.

Join stakeholders under the umbrella of the Nairobi Strategy on TB and Human Rights drawn from over 11 countries worldwide, in demanding more from the United Nations High-Level Meeting on Tuberculosis by signing the Communiqué.

The Communiqué spells out four demands on the status and future of the UN HLM Political Declaration.

• For access to TB drugs and diagnostics through the World Trade Organisation’s (WTO) Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) flexibilities for all who need them;
• For the establishment of an effective and independent accountability mechanism;
• For the full incorporation of human rights language and content in the UN HLM on TB Political Declaration; and
• For civil society representation amongst plenary speakers at the UN HLM on TB to represent those affected who must drive the TB response.
