We demand to release from custody VIKTAR BABARYKA, the candidate for the upcoming presidential elections in REPUBLIC OF BELARUS, and his son EDUARD. We demand to stop persecution of this candidate, his family members, friends, colleagues, members of the election campaign, and citizens supporting him in the role of candidate for the post of president of the Republic of Belarus.

BACKSTORY: We, the citizens of Belarus, know that many of you readers have fair and valid presidential debate and are allowed the basic privilege of free and transparent elections. We, the citizens of Belarus, do not have this privilege. Our current "president" ALEXANDER LUKASHENKO had come to power in 1994. Immediately after seizing power, he ALTERED our constitution to effectively CANCEL every system of checks and balances enforced, giving him the unprecedented power to make executive decisions without looking back at ANYONE. This made Belarus effectively into a DICTATORSHIP, the last dictatorship in Europe.

This broke the hopes and dreams of every Belarusian that just emerged from over 70 years of being under communists in USSR wanting for a free democratic country, where basic human rights and freedoms are respected, and where the freedom to choose and speak for each individual exists. During his presidency Alexander Lukashenko has been a burden to our citizens for 26 YEARS, and as the recent events proved, he is not planning to give up that power staying true to his corruption. He ruined our economy and freedom of speech. He stole billions of Belorussian rubles from the people. He abducted or otherwise silenced every opposition candidate to date, as well as journalists and supporters who tried to make the voices of the people heard. He is an evil, corrupt and disgusting politician, and he must be removed from his presidency!

FAST FORWARD TO PRESENT DAY, JUNE 18, 2020: This is happening all over again just two month before the next presidential election on August, 9, 2020. The main democratic candidate from opposition, VIKTAR BABARYKA got 58% support of the population according to the preliminary voting surveys. As a result of such surveys the current government then FORBADE all preliminary voting surveys. For the record, the current president Alexander Lukashenko got only 3% of voices according to the preliminary vote.

As of June 18, 2020, VIKTAR BABARYKA and his son EDUARD BABARYKA WERE UNLAWFULLY DETAINED by the officials based on made up “corruption” charges and prohibited from answering all phone calls. His lawyers are not ALLOWED to get in contact with him because of another fabricated legal obstruction. He is being held at KGB without means to contact his lawyers, supporters or his electorate. The detention of Viktar Babaryka is a gross violation of human rights of Viktar Babaryka himself, as well as citizens of the Republic of Belarus who wish to cast their vote for him in the 2020 presidential election on August 9, 2020.

WHAT WE ASK FROM YOU: As citizens of Belarus, we demand free and transparent elections. We demand Alexander Lukashenko to be removed from the presidency and face justice for his many crimes. We demand to live in a democratic country. We demand our basic human and political rights, and freedom of speech be reinstated and heard. We are a small country where every free voice is being shut down and persecuted by military forces and justice system on orders of the current president Alexander Lukashenko.

We ask you the UNITED NATIONS, every AMERICAN, every citizen of the EU, Australia, Canada, UK and every democratic country in the world to please help us have our basic human and political rights restored. Please, sign the petition to put pressure on the government of Belarus and Alexander Lukashenko so that Viktar Babaryka be freed from unlawful and politically driven imprisonment so the people of Belarus can vote him into the office of President on August, 9, 2020. Viktar Babaryka is our democratic candidate that we, the citizens of Belarus, believe in making the changes needed in our country.
