Help Kerala. An entire state need help in rescue operations. Kerala is drowning

The Issue

Mark Lowcock
Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, United Nations

We are writing this petition on behalf of 35 million people lives in Kerala, southern state of India and around the world. We are frantically and desperately seeking for help as hundreds of people in the Kerala are dying due to one of the worst flooding the province has seen in its history. The recent monsoon and ensuring heavy floods have wreaked havoc in the Indian state of Kerala, bringing with it unprecedented human suffering and loss of lives due to a natural disaster. 35 million inhabitants of the province are going through one of the worst fears in their lives where multiple flash flood and huge landslides are threatening the ever existence of human lives. The rescue operation from the Kerala state and from the central government are in place, but we would like to take chance and help our brothers and sisters in need and make sure that to everyone is in safe. There will be a period of rebuilding and rehabilitation of entire communities, villages, and towns in the coming months. At times of unforeseen humanitarian crisis and misery, it’s upon us fellow human being to lend a helping hand to the innocent victims.

We are seeking help, relief, donations, and support for our brothers and sisters in Kerala from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affaire in any possible way such as food, medicines, technical and financial aid.
The government of Kerala has already started a Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund that explains the intensity of this calamity and is seeking donations on its website.

Kerala has been reeling under murderous monsoon, which has claimed more than 350 lives so far. Kerala police, army, National disaster response force deployed their teams to evacuate those victims in need. The United Nations Chief already expressed sadness over the flooding and extensive damage and displacement caused in rain-battered Kerala. Also, he said that the world body has not received any direct request from the Indian government for aid.
The death toll is still rising and more than 3 lakh people have fled their homes. We are worried about the probable huge disaster, where millions of our brothers and sisters are standard beneath a more than century-old dam consisting of 15 TMC water spreading over 4668 Acres of land.

We sincerely request the United Nations to join our hands helping Kerala in any means possible- by contacting the Indian Government offering rescue/ relief mission.
