Forest Fires Emergency: UN & European Commission Take Action Against Regional Governments

Forest Fires Emergency: UN & European Commission Take Action Against Regional Governments
The Issue
In view of the scale of the three current forest fires in Alaska, Russia, and in particular in Brazil, we, the undersigned, request the following actions:
1. A comprehensive environmental impact assessments be conducted and full reports and action plans be made publicly available within the next 12-months.
2. In each of the three cases, that investigations be undertaken and prosecutions be brought should any criminality (i.e. arson) in the International Criminal Court, or other mechanism.
3. That all governments involved, be ordered — by an internationally agreed resolution — to develop a cohesive and practicable plan to put out or curtail further spreading.
4. That all trade deals and/or discussions be suspended until such time as Actions 1 and 2 have been fully met. And;
5. Once the fires have been put out or died out naturally — by an internationally agreed resolution — that the forests be replanted and not given over to industry or farming.
6. Impose agreed sanctions on any government refusing to comply with any of the above.
In view of comments made by the President of Brazil, and longer-term impact, it may also be pertinent to seek an agreed resolution or any other legally applicable mechanism to remove state sovereignty.
