Whether it be Africa, Asia or the Caribbean, we all have family back home. Some might be in a decent/financially stable situation, majority are unfortunately not entitled to that lifestyle.

I’ve grown up watching many people having to take care of their family back home by sending money, care packages, etc because their governments continue to fail them over and over again. It’s not easy and it’s pocket breaking.

To hear that the G7 now want to start testing on Africans (again) really brings tears to my eyes because they’ve been doing this since the beginning of time. Slavery. Jim Crow. Tuskegee. AIDS/HIV. South Africa. South Asia. Australia. Unit 731. German experiments in Namibia. The list goes on and on. We have been subject to so many unethical, biological human tests, many of which have left a stain in our DNA. G7 have and still continue to prove that they don’t see black people as human beings. I’m tired. I’m tired of being taught about my people’s oppression. I’m tired of my people still being subject to oppression. I’m tired of the G7 continuously capitalising off of my people. I’m just tired of it all. 

We are Generation X and Generation Z. We have to be the change. We have so much power than we actually realise but they don’t want you to know that there’s power in numbers.

To be where we are in this life is a very privileged position. You weren’t put on this earth to just float about. You were put here to do something with your life. Something meaningful. So do that. Whether it be a petition sign, whether it be a hashtag or a share, or marching or rioting. It is something.

Like Tesco always say, every little helps and it does.
