The Issue

WE THE PEOPLE OF THE WORLD DEMAND the United Nations General Assembly enact the Uniting for Peace Resolution (UNGA Res 377(V)) to prevent the ethnic cleansing and annihilation of the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank.

Since 2023, we have all have watched in horror as a live-streamed genocide has taken place, beginning with the collective punishment of civilians, particularly women and children for the Hamas attack of 7th October 2023. To the escalation of military and political action against the Palestinian people that has destroyed over 90% of the infrastructure, the healthcare system, access to clean food, water, safe shelter.

We have seen the use of extensive weaponry on a trapped population that exceeds the impact of 5 nuclear bombs. The horrors of the wars, the holocaust that international law was created to prevent, has unfolded against all sense of morality and legal duty.

We, the people of world have seen the impunity, stated intent and the actions taken to make the environment as incompatible to life in Gaza and the increased settler violence in the West Bank as land is land and resources are annexed from Palestinian families.

This ongoing crisis has ignited global outrage, and united people around the world, in protest and actions to seek an end to this genocide. Yet the response from those with the power to intervene, to uphold international law, to sanction to ensure compliance with ICJ/ICC decision has been shockingly insufficient. Eroding the very trust the UN is built on that all people deserve an equal right to live without oppression and violence.

A failure to save the Palestinian people creates a world in which no people are safe or can rely on justice, equality or protection.

The current situation highlights the dire need for immediate action, as the United Nations Security Council has repeatedly failed to uphold its responsibilities and the recent decision to accept a ceasefire that has no Palestinian representation is a fundamental failure on the eve of the anniversary of significant UN convention and international days of recognition of human rights (*).  A ceasefire, which has been breached numerous times with the death of civilians, particularly children  no UN /  independent agency has been put in pace to ensure it is upheld by all parties uphold the end to conflict has been a fundamental failure .

The decision at the beginning of 2026 to ban NGOs/Aid agencies, is morally unconscionable and further ensures the loss of life, especially of civilians. Deaths which are preventable and are protected by various legal. moral an unconditional duty on all parties involved.

The UN Security Council's overall inaction undermines international and humanitarian laws that underpin the UN and jeopardizes the fundamental obligations set forth under various UN Conventions to protect children, women, the disabled etc all of which promise to apply the principle of 'never again' equally to all populations worldwide.

This failure has already eroded trust in global governance structures and increased the vulnerability of people everywhere.

To prevent further devastation, WE THE PEOPLE OF THE WORLD DEMAND the United Nations General Assembly enact the Uniting for Peace Resolution (UNGA Res 377(V)).

This resolution grants the General Assembly the power to take collective action when the Security Council is unable to act due to the veto power. It has been used successfully in the past to address threats to peace and security, proving its effectiveness as a tool for justice.

Enacting this resolution would demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding the rights of Palestinians and, more broadly, protecting all civilians from acts of aggression and violence. It would show that international solidarity can overcome political stalemates and that the global community values human life above all else.

Please, join us in calling on the United Nations General Assembly to take this crucial step. By signing this petition, you're taking a stand for peace, justice, and the protection of human rights for every individual. Together, we can work toward a more just world where such atrocities can no longer occur. Sign now and make your voice heard.
