United Airlines wants travelers to pay to use overhead bins. Sign this petition to tell them to stop nickel-and-diming their customers.

According to ABC News, "United Airlines just announced a new ticket option called 'Basic Economy,' banning the use of overhead bins for luggage." Since when is it a luxury to travel with a change of clothes? What will parents of small children do, when a diaper bag alone is too big to fit under the seat in front of them?

ABC also reports that "United expects the plan to raise $1 billion for the company by 2020." Last year, United brought in somewhere between $4.5 billion and $7.3 billion in profit. This company doesn't need the extra cash – but we, its customers, do.

Other airlines will be watching to see if customers revolt against the overhead bin charge. If we let this one slide, you can bet that nearly every other airline on the market will start charging for overhead bin space.
